Making a Order by Phone

Waitress:
Good morning, Healthy Restaurant, can I help you?
Wendy:
Good morning, I’d like to order some food for breakfast.
Waitress:
Thank you. Your order, please.
Wendy:
May I have a veggie burger, a tomato egg sandwich and a cup of mashed potato?
Waitress:
What kind of dressing do you like for your burger, mustard, tomato sauce or our new spicy mushroom creamy sauce?
Wendy:
Em…let me see. I want your new sauce, the spicy one, please.
Waitress:
For your mashed potato, what toppings would you like it with?
Wendy:
What choices can I choose?
Waitress:
We’ve got many, for example, shredded cheese, ham, bacon and minced beef, etc?
Wendy:
Oh, all choices are yummy and it seems quite hard to make a choice. Em…I’d like two toppings, cheese and bacon.
Waitress:
Okay, cheese and bacon. Would you like a drink or a dessert?
Wendy:
What dessert do you have today?
Waitress:
Today special’s choice is fruit tart.
Wendy:
Oh…I prefer dessert then.
Waitress:
Thank you. The total is $60. May I have your address, please?
Wendy:
Sure, 26A Rose Mansion, 18 Kid Road.
Waitress:
Oh, you live quite far away so you need to wait for a bit longer. Your food will be ready in 45 minutes. Is it okay?
Wendy:
It’s okay. Thank you.
Waitress:
Thanks for your call.

A One-Day Trip to Hong Kong

I am excited to see my friend Fanny two weeks later. It is challenging to explore Hong Kong in one day but I have tried my best to plan a trip for her. I hope she will like it.

In the morning, we will take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui. I will take her to a famous Cha Chaan Teng called Lan Fong Yuen. We will eat some popular local food such as egg tarts and pineapple buns. After the meal, we will walk along the Avenue of Stars, where she can see the handprints of many local artists.

In the afternoon, we will take a bus to Yuen Long. We are going to have some delicious dim sums at a famous restaurant there for lunch. After that, we will go to Ping Shan Heritage Trail on foot. We will see a lot of old buildings like temples, ancestral halls and a walled village. We must visit Tsui Shing Lau Pagoda, which has been listed as a historic building.

Then, we will take a mini-bus to Aberdeen for dinner in a floating restaurant called Jumbo, which is famous for fresh seafood. We can enjoy the garoupa, shrimps, oysters, etc. They are yummy!

I can’t wait to see my friend!

Dear Kelly,

I’m fine. It’s good to hear that you enjoy your new school life and have made a new friend at school. I want to share with you things about mine.

Our school life is as happy as before. Every day, we learn English, Chinese, Mathematics and other subjects. Our favourite teachers are Miss Lee and Miss Chan because they are friendly and like talking to students. The classmates behave well and we are attentive in lessons.

My family members are fine but my parents are working busily these days. My father is on a business trip to Japan and my mother has a lot of meetings.

After school, I do my homework and revisions. I spend my free time practising the guitar. Besides playing the musical instrument, my favourite activities are reading books and drawing.

The weather in Hong Kong is hot and humid because summer is coming. I’m planning to visit the local Disneyland with my best friends.

I miss you and hope to see you when you’re back to Hong Kong.

Best Wishes,

Chelsea
